I’m running for the Walnut Creek School District Governing Board because I believe our students deserve strong public schools, and I want to bring my experience, community commitment, and understanding of school finances to help protect educational excellence and build a financially sustainable future.
Meet Eryn
Volunteer. Public Education Advocate. Mother.
Eryn King is a longtime Walnut Creek community volunteer, public education advocate, and mother of two Walnut Creek public school students. As the daughter of a retired public school teacher, she understands firsthand the difference strong public schools make for students, families, and the broader community.
Eryn holds a Master of Science in Marketing from Santa Clara University and has spent her career building strong organizations and connecting people around shared goals. She is running for Walnut Creek School District Governing Board because she believes our community deserves strong schools, responsible stewardship of public resources, and transparent leadership focused on students.
Eryn has served for ten years on the Walnut Creek Education Foundation Board, including four years as President. During her tenure, she helped grow annual fundraising from $850,000 to more than $1.6 million, supporting programs and opportunities for students across our TK-8 schools and Las Lomas High School. She brings experience in nonprofit governance, school finance, fundraising, communications, and community engagement.
The Issues I’m Focused On
Education Preservation
WCSD has built a strong tradition of academic excellence and preserving that must remain a priority. As we navigate financial pressures and difficult budget decisions, we need to protect the programs, educators, and opportunities that have the greatest impact on student learning. That means evaluating tradeoffs carefully, using data to guide decisions, and ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality, well-rounded education. An education that includes academics, arts, music, and electives. Our goal should be to preserve the educational experience our students deserve and our families expect, while building a financially sustainable future.
Transparent Leadership with Students First
Our community deserves leadership that is open, accountable, and focused on what matters most: our students. I will prioritize clear communication, thoughtful decision-making, and meaningful community engagement. Every decision should start with a simple question: What is best for students? I will use data, listen to educators and families, and advocate for equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities across WCSD.

Responsible Stewardship of Public Resources
With the recent failure of the Measure L parcel tax, WCSD faces difficult financial decisions that will directly impact our students and schools, our community and WCEF will likely be asked to do even more. The reality is that California’s Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) does not fully cover the cost of providing the high-quality education our community expects and our students deserve. I want to ensure that every budget decision is data-driven, transparent, and student-centered, protecting educational excellence and ensuring that financial constraints do not come at the expense of equitable learning opportunities for every student.
